I have had the pleasure of knowing Gordon for several years. He was a professional colleague and a friend. Gordon was a man who always did the "right thing", even when it was the hard thing to do. He always had the best interest of the children in his heart. I will miss his guidance and laughter!

I thank Gordon for his caring heart. With the loss of my Mother he helped me understand her better. With his book "The Lost Children" he brought to life the ordeals that many went through and could not bring themselves to open up about. Thank you Gordon, for all those who were brought together because of you.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Gordon's family. He will be missed by our genealogy chapter, serving as a trustee. He was always willing to volunteer and donate his time and energy to our projects and loved preserving history in any form - thus his need to write his book about the children's home. What a wonderful and generous man that was loved...

So sorry to hear of Gordon's death! I remember well our softball days with Finley Church. Gordy on the mound, Jeff Moran at 2nd, Ron Hopkins at shortstop, and Ray Poole at 3rd with me at first base. Gordy would call time out and we would gather on the mound and he would tell a joke! At times we helped Gordy bail hay, riding the wagon, and then stacking the bales in the barn! Great times and great memories in Steubenville in the 60s. Living in New Jersey since 1974 has hindered those old relationships but the memories will always linger. My prayers are with the Grafton family for God's richest blessings upon them.

My most sincere sympathy to all of Gordon's family and friends. He was a wonderful man. I graduated from JU with Gordon. We were in the Genealogy Society together and we were working on the decorating committee for our high school reunion this fall. But mostly we were friends. He had a lot of friends and a lot of interests. We talked about pets, the farm, family, football....I kidded him everytime the Steelers beat the Browns; we talked about his jobs, teaching, and how much he loved the Survivors and Seekers. We always reminded each other to watch NCIS. He had a great sense of humor and was easy to like. He was gentle and kind. I will miss him. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Naomi
