Gordon C. “Pete” Peterson, 88, of Steubenville, OH died Friday, January 25, 2013 at Life Line Hospital, Wintersville, OH. He was born on August 22, 1924 in North Aurora, IL a son of the late Oscar and Lillian Rutsolk Peterson. Pete was the retired Executive Director of the Y.M.C.A., where he was named Director of the Year in 1960. He served in the U.S. Army. Pete is a member of the Illinois High School Hall of Fame and played football and graduated from the University of Illinois. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife V. Jane McFeeters Peterson and his brother Robert Peterson. Pete is survived by sons Bruce (Joan) Peterson of Amherst, OH and Ken (Penny) Peterson of Steubenville, OH; grandchildren Kodi, Kasey, Kelsey, Lindsay, Brandon and Shawna Peterson. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
