Gladys Bowman, age 99, of Steubenville died Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at her residence of natural causes. She was born in Middlebourne, Ohio on March 5, 1915 the daughter of the late John R. and Jennie Smith Brothers. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Leo R. Bowman on December 25, 2002; two brothers Ronald and Dwight Brothers; two sisters Edna Grubbs and Frances Duze; and son in law Dwight “Sully” Sullivan.Gladys was a member of Wintersville United Methodist Church and worked at the former Ohio Valley Hospital as a ward clerk.She is survived by her sons Gary (Sue) of Sun City Center, FL, Donald and Ronald (Margaret) both of Syracuse, NY, John (Kimberly) of East Liverpool, OH, David (Kristine) of Tallahassee, FL; a daughter Beverly Sullivan of Steubenville; 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter and one expected this December; a brother Ray Brothers of Cambridge, OH, and a sister Martha Wilde of Tucson, AZ.Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Saturday from 1 until the time of funeral service at 3 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Clint Quillen conducting services in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Valley Hospice.
