Obituary For Geraldine Ruth Mansfield

Geraldine “Gerry” Ruth Mansfield, 94, of Hopedale, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, September 8, 2012. Gerry was born Nov. 9, 1917, in Greenville, PA, the daughter of Charles and Dorothy Lewis Houten. She leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Dean, daughter Cheryl of Cape Canaveral, Fla., nephew and niece Kevin and Mary Ann Hamilton of Latrobe, Pa., and her caregiver and friend, Ruth Lemley. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Emmett Hamilton. Gerry graduated from Hopedale High School in 1935. After attending beauty school in Steubenville, she opened Gerry’s Beauty Shop in Hopedale, which she operated for 40 years. After retiring, she and her husband lived part of each year in Florida. She was a member of the Hopedale United Presbyterian Church. She was very grateful for the care and attention she received during her final days at Harrison Community Hospital and through Charity Hospice. A private family service will be held at a later date. Those who wish to honor her memory may do so by contributing to the American Lung Association or Charity Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville, OH.

Dear Cheryl, I heard this morning that your Mom has passed on. Please accept my condolances. I know she is also with Emmett and Shirley now and what a happy reunion that must be. My condolances also to your father and Kevin also. I will always remember her as very classy and always stylish. She cut my hair when I was little and remember my mother always had her Friday morning hair appt with her. May your memories and God sustain you during this difficult time.
