Obituary For Geraldine A. "Jerry" Mason

Geraldine A. “Jerry” Mason, 96, of Wintersville, Ohio died Monday, November 28, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born December 25, 1919 in Bellaire, Ohio the daughter of the late Nelson and Carrie Frailey Spinks. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her late husband Glenn B. Mason; daughter Barbara Fischer; grandson Trent Mason; great granddaughter Jameson Fischer and sisters Hilda Speaks and Evelyn Griffiths. She retired from Jefferson Co. Children’s Services as a day care aide and was an active member at Two Ridges Presbyterian Church where she served as a past elder, Sunday school teacher and belonged to the Women’s Association. This year they were able to have a five-generation photo taken.

She is survived by her children Dick Mason and Sandra “Sandy” Mason both of Wintersville, Robert “Bob” (Marlene) Mason of Cardington, OH; grandchildren Tammy (Jim) Hammer, Michael (Russ McDowell) Mason, D.C. (Tish) Fischer, Carl (Kendra) Fischer Jr., Benjamin (Fassiva) Mason; great grandchildren David Hammer, P.J. (Laycee) Hammer, Hannah (Brad) Piko, Jessica, Alyssa, Lucy, Phoebe, Cayne, Cameron and Jackson Fischer, Allen, Aleena and Autumn Mason; great-great granddaughter Ruby Piko and special nephew and niece David and Tammy Albaugh.

Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m., where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday with Rev. Dr. Bill Lawrence officiating. Burial Fort Steuben. Memorial contributions may be directed to Two Ridges Presbyterian Church.

    Jerry meant the world to the Schlemmer family. Masons were lifelong friends. By far the most upbeat person I have ever met. I will cherish the memories, laughs, visits, and the warm afghans. Jerry & I had just chatted the week of T-giving & had made plans to see each other in the Summer. She is the last link to my mom-- I can hear their laughter. Prayers to all.
