Gerald T. “Jerry” Starr, Sr., 70, of Steubenville died Friday, February 6, 2009 at Trinity West ER. He was born in Mingo Junction, OH on February 17, 1938 a son of the late William and Myrtle Bickerstaff Starr. Jerry was Methodist by faith and was a member of Pilgrim Lodge 691, Steubenville Shrine Club and a 40 year member of Amsterdam Moose Lodge. He served in the National Guard and was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel after 42 years of service as a crane operator. Preceded in death by brothers Donald and Ronald Starr; sisters Ina Glasser and Nora Burnett; one great grandson. Jerry is survived by his wife Judith “Judy” A. Maple Starr; daughters Mary Ann (Jeff) Brettell of Gibsonia, PA and Terri Wolf of Havelock, NC; son Gerald T. (Sharon) Starr, Jr. of Dillonvale, OH; daughters Dawneve (Michael) Ryan of Toronto, OH and Lori Starr, her companion Jim Knox of Wintersville, OH; son William Starr of Rosamond, CA; brothers William Starr of Milwaukee, WS and Dale (Irene) Starr of Wintersville, OH; sister Myrtle McGuire of Steubenville, OH; sister-in-law Helen Starr of Wintersville, OH; 1st wife the former Thelma Mumaw, 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, OH on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m., where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, 12:30p.m. with Rev. David Sperry officiating. Entombment at Fort Steuben. Masonic services will be held on Tuesday, 7:30p.m.
