George W. “Louie” Cook, Sr., 79, of Mingo Junction, OH passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Trinity West a week short of his 80th birthday.
He was born in Martins Ferry, OH on February 16, 1941. Louie is the son of the late Jess A. and Clara E. Wright Cook. He retired from National Lubricating as a gasoline tank driver. He was a member of Mingo Sportsman and always talked about growing up in his beloved South End of Steubenville and Beatty Park. Everyone knew him as “Big Lou”. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and Steubenville Big Red Football.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Betty Young; brothers James “Jimmy” Cook, John “Jack” Cook, Charles “Pete” Cook, Jerry Cook, and Terry Cook.
Louie is survived by his wife Mikilynn “Miki” Arabia Cook; daughters Jamie (Ben) McGinnis of Pickerington, OH, Karrie (Terry) Wedlake of Port St. Lucie, FL, and son George W. Cook, Jr. of Steubenville; father-in-law, Harry Maragos of Toronto, OH; sisters-in-law Mary Ann Cook of Steubenville and Ella Cook of Unionport, OH; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
No services will be held per family request. The family would like to give thanks to Sienna Skilled Care Nursing & Rehabilitation for taking great care of him.

I'm sorry for your loss, Louie was a wonderful man, always funny and nice, I remember him at the baseball games when my brothers and George played. Then later years at Softball games when Jamie played with my nieces. And of course all the years at Mingo Sportsman. God Bless you all
