George P. Allan, 88, of Steubenville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at OSU-Wexner Hospice, Columbus, Ohio. He was born January 7, 1935 in Steubenville a son of the late George A. & Lucille E. Porter Allan. He was a 1952 graduate of Wintersville High School and received his B.S. from the College of Steubenville and M. Educ. Degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
George retired on July 1, 1992 from the Indian Creek School District, having served as a teacher, counselor and administrator during his career. He went on to work 17 years at Jefferson County Educational Service Center.
George led a life devoted to God, his family and cherished friends. He touched the lives of many through his career in education and being very present and supportive to the people in his life.
George was preceded in death by his first wife Marjorie Gall Allan on December 2, 2019; brother Clifford Allan & sister Ruth Carson.
George is survived by his wife Joan McDivitt Carpenter Allan; daughters Georgia (Dave) Dawson & Joyce (Alan) Smith; six grandsons John Robert Polsinelli, Matthew Ryan Polsinelli, Ian Gregory (Nina) Smith, Jordan Allan (Tori) Smith, Ryan Porter Smith & Griffan David Smith; great granddaughter Ella Grace Alan Smith; sisters Betty (Wayne) Hackathorne, Barbara (Thomas) Grimm & Claudia (late John) Dorich; sister-in-law Mary Beth Allan; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Friday 4-7 p.m.
On Saturday, friends may call at Starkdale Presbyterian Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Carl Moore officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben.
Memorials may be directed to Starkdale Presbyterian Church.

George was loved by a lot of people and will be greatly missed. I grew up in Wintersville and knew George through school and through his family and friends. He was always pleasant, easy to talk to and kind to everyone . I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to his family and I will keep them all in my thoughts and prayers.
