Obituary For George J. Granatir

George J. Granatir, 84, of Wintersville died Monday, August 18, 2008 at Trinity West, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Mingo Junction on December 11, 1923 a son of the late Paul E. and Mary Mazur Granatir, Sr.  George retired from Weirton Steel Division after 35 years of service in the Steubenville Plant.  He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Mended Hearts.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Michael and Paul E. Granatir, Jr.; sisters Mary and Alice Granatir; step-mother Suzanne Smeriga Granatir.  George is survived by his wife Sylvia June Freas Granatir; son George David (Barbara) Granatir of Coatsville, Pennsylvania; daughters June (John) Alexander of Cincinnati, OH, Susan L. (Adrian) Hershey of Steubenville and Elaine (Keith) Saltsman of Bloomingdale; brothers John Granatir of Los Angeles, CA, Edward and Andrew (Donna) Granatir both of Steubenville and Daniel (Alice) Granatir of Bloomingdale; sister Mary (Glen) Donahue of Richmond, OH; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandsons and 2 step-grandsons.  Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral liturgy with mass 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Msgr. Kurt H. Kemo officiating.   Burial immediately following  at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Vigil service 3:45p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be directed to Blessed Sacrament Church.

    We were saddened to read online about George. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Dad is living here in Daytona area near us. We have wonderful memories of the days on Longvue and having all of you as neighbors. God bless, Nancy Long and Ted Zrinyi
