George E. Rauch 78 of Wintersville, OH died Friday, June 27, 2003 at Trinity West, Steubenville after a lengthy illness. He was born in Bellaire, OH on January 11, 1925 a son of the late George and Glorena Lynskey Rauch. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Wintersville, and it’s Men’s Club, Knights of Columbus 472, Wintersville, American Legion Post 557and Disabled American Veterans. U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, served in the Pacific and received The Purple Heart. George was an avid fisherman and spent many summers in Canada. He retired from the Federal Paper Board, Steubenville, after 35 years of service as a millright, also was retired from Voto Manufacturing, Steubenville, where he worked in sales. Preceded in death by brothers Edwin and Paul Rauch. He is survived by his wife Ann Sawka Rauch, whom he married on 9-8-1951, daughters Georgeann (Brian) Vosi of Minerva, OH, Becky (Richard) Pratko of Richmond, OH, Eleanor “Nonie” (Michael) Paprocki of Mingo Junction, OH, son Matthew Rauch of Liverpool, NY, sisters Margaret Fitzgerald of Westlake, OH, Betty Fickle of Columbus, OH and Patricia Kinney of Medina, OH, grandchildren Benjamin and Brian (Melissa) Pratko, Gwen and Christopher Senften, Rachel, Genette and Julie Paprocki, Danielle Rauch, great granddaughter Azrielle Pratko. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral liturgy with mass will be held on Monday, 12:00 p.m. at Blessed Scarament Catholic Church with Msgr. Gerald Calovini officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville. Vigil services today 3:45 p.m. Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct services at cemetery.
