George E. “Sonny” Tressler, 82, of Steubenville passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016 at The Laurels in Steubenville. He was born in Steubenville on July 28, 1934 a son of the late Earl and Berdina Baker Tressler. Sonny was a member of Finley United Methodist Church and he retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel where he was a foreman in the Coke Plant. He was also a bowling enthusiast. Survived by his wife Betty Lou Workman Tressler; daughters Becky Downard and Caroline Miller; son David Tressler; sisters Dorothy Pierpoint and Lydia Rocchio; brothers Dick, Jack and Bill Tressler; step-mother Mae Shinn; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m., where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 10a.m. with Rev. Jerry Ernst officiating. Burial in Island Creek Cemetery.
