George “Shorty” D. Scott, Sr., 64, of Mingo Jct. Ohio, beloved husband, father, grandpa, son and friend passed away on January 9, 2025 at Weirton Medical Center. He was born on August 16,1960 to the late Clyde and Nellie Scott.
George served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division. He was past commander of Toronto American Legion Post 86 and a past firefighter with the Knoxville Fire Dept. He was part of the best Pyrotechnico fireworks crew for over 20 years. They were all like his brothers more than friends. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, and being a cheer pap to all the kids.
George is preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Nellie, his late wife Judy Scott, sibling’s Estelle Sexton, Lowery Scott, James Scott, Joe Scott, and Irene Deckman. He is survived by sibling’s Nellie Carson, Anna Scott, Mike Scott, Hawk Iron Eyes Silvercloud, and Rose Garbrandt; children Eddie Scott, George Scott Jr., Allisha Scott, Misty Scott, Kim (Michael) Scott, Tabatha & Kaylyn Manley, and Kara Bell; grandchildren Kielyana, Xavier, Jesse, McKenzie, Damarion, Fantasia, Zarina, Grayson, and one on the way; best friends Todd Scott, Bubsy Walker & Kevin Gray and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m. Additional visitation Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Roy Arbogast officiating. Military honors by the Toronto American Legion Post 86.
