George D. Romios 73 of Steubenville, Ohio died Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at home of natural causes. He was born in Louka Tripoli, Greece on January 17, 1930 a son of the late Demitrios and Panayiota Belakos Romios. He was the retired owner and operator of George’s Coffee Shop and Lounge in Steubenville and known as “The Hot Dog King of Steubenville”. Prior to coming to the United States, he operated Romios Photography Studio in Athens, Greece. George was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and had served a parish council vice-president; member of Order of A.H.E.P.A. and Pan-Arcadian Society of America. He was also an avid fan of John Wayne. Preceding George in death were his son James “Taki” Romios; one brother Costantinos and one sister Alexandra Mandas. Surviving are his wife Mary Pappas (Papadimitriou) whom he married on April 28, 1957; two daughters Effie (David) Molzan of Parma, Ohio and Alexandra Cairnie of Wooster, Ohio; seven grandchildren Charles, Cassandra, Sarah and Mary Cate Cairnie and Joshua “George”, Zachary and Maria Molzan; and twin sisters Georgia Roumeliotis and Kyriaki Vellos both of Greece. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Wednesday 7-9 and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services Friday 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Church (visitation one hour prior at the church) with Rev. Dean Dimon officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Church or The Taki Romios Library Fund.
