Geno B. Ardito, 81, of Mingo Junction, Ohio died Monday August 1, 2005 at his home; the same home he was born in on January 19, 1924 a son of the late Ludovico and Teresa Iagnemma Ardito. Geno was a 1943 graduate of Mingo High School, a Navy veteran serving during WWII, the owner of Ardito Brothers Hardware from 1951 - 1999 in Mingo and was also employed by Gilchrist Lumber of Mingo and Brilliant. His memberships included St. Agnes Church, Rod and Gun Club, American Legion Argonne Post #33 of Steubenville, Mingo Senior Citizens, Knights of St. George, a charter member of Mingo Lions Club and a former member of Mingo Business Association and Mingo Fire Department and its Drum and Bugle Corp. In addition to his parents, Geno was preceded in death by his first wife Martha Halischak Ardito in 1962; second wife Mildred “Babe“ Karas Ardito on June 28, 2005; 2 brothers Frank “Frenchie“ and Raymond “Mars“ Ardito and sister Carmella Giuliani DiCarolis. He is survived by sister Mary “Sunny” Takach; brother Rigoletto “Reggie” Ardito; two nieces Mary Joann Sauvain and Donna Ardito; nephew James “Babe” Giuliani all of Mingo Junction; several great nieces and nephews; and 3 step grandchildren. Friends may call at Hoff-Shorac Funeral Home, 235 Clifton Avenue, Mingo Junction on Wednesday 2 - 7 pm. Funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated Thursday at St Agnes Church where the body will lie in state from 9:30 until time of mass at 10 am. Fr. James Dunfee to celebrate. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery where American Legion Argonne Post #33 will conduct military services. Vigil Service Wednesday 3 pm and Mingo Lions Club service Wednesday 4 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Agnes Church or Valley Hospice.
