Genevieve A. Leach, age 94, died Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Gables Care Center, Hopedale, Ohio. She was born in Steubenville on October 27, 1919 the daughter of the late John and Mary Kostrewa Dondzila. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert C. Leach on December 5, 2003; two brothers Paul and Frank Dondzila and three sisters Ida Hudson, Stella Matto and Elizabeth Krot.Genevieve in her earlier years held membership at the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and is presently a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She is survived by her son Eugene R. (Connie) Leach of Columbus, OH and daughter Anna (Mark) Kansala of Bloomingdale, OH; nine grandchildren Robert (Amy) Leach, Kevin (Lisa) Leach, Tim and David (Tammy) Leach, Karen (Walter) Gibson, Michele Shannon, Lori (Gary) Borham, Alan Leach and Consetta (Tim) Schmitt; fourteen great grandchildren.Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy with mass will be celebrated Saturday 11 a.m. with Msgr. Kurt Kemo officiating. Burial at Mt. Calvary. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Gables Care Center for the care Genevieve received. I was so saddened to hear of Genevieve's passing. When my mother-in-law was at the Gables, I met Genevieve and instantly liked her. I used to take her to Bingo with us and helped her play. I would bring her candy on my visits and she really liked that. She had family members' photos on her bulletin board and was happy to tell me about them. Such a special lady!
