Gene Groves, 84, of Wintersville died Monday, December 27, 2010 at Dixon Health Care Center. He was born in Steubenville, OH on August 11, 1926 a son of the late Lester and Dorothy Barnhart Groves. He was retired from Weirton Steel as a instrument repairman in the fuel department and served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. Gene was a member of Wintersville U.M. Church, Methodist Mens, Adult Sunday School Class, Golden Boys Breakfast Club, Lions Club, Promise Keepers, Masonic Lodge 45 F&AM, Steubenville Shrine Club, American Legion Post 557. Preceded in death by his wife Lillian “Sis” Johnston Groves. Survived by son Gary (Sheila) Groves of Bloomingdale, OH; daughter Kim Groves of Wintersville; brother Robert (Becky) Groves of Virginia; grandchildren Christopher and Kelsey. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Wednesday from 5p.m. until time of service at 8p.m. with Rev. Clint Quillen officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Crippled Children or American Red Cross. Masonic services Wednesday, 5:30p.m.
