Gene A. Nida, 79, of Tiltonsville, OH died Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Lancia Villa Vista. He was born in Glouster, OH on October 28, 1932 the son of the late Ralph Nida and Mildred Vaughn Nida Harrison. Gene was a retired foreman at Weirton Steel and had served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of Wintersville United Methodist Church and attended Lillian United Methodist Church in Alabama. Gene was a member of Steubenville Masonic Lodge 45 and a 32 degree member of Valley of Steubenville Scottish Rite AASR and V.F.W. Yorkville Post 4811. Gene was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed wood carving, cabinet making and general carpentry. He always had a helping hand with community churches and friends. Gene also enjoyed fishing and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Lois L. George Nida, whom he married August 27, 1951 and she died on April 15, 2004, son Bradley V. Nida; step-father Cecil Harrison; and step-grandson Joey Captor. Gene is survived by his daughter Karen (Joe) Captor of Tiltonsville, OH; step-sister Jackie (Richard) Acker of Akron, OH; grandchildren Bradley (Erica) Nida, Kevin Nida and Adam (Cristey) Nida all of Pennsylvania; great grandchild Avary Nida. Memorial services will be held on Saturday 11a.m. at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH with Rev. Clint Quillen officiating. Masonic service Saturday 10:45a.m. The family would like to thank all the staff at Lancia Villa Vista who provided for Gene’s care.
