Frederick R. Munson went home to be with the Lord at his home on Sunday morning, September 29, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with heart failure. Fred was born in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania on April l1, 1947 a son of the late Jesse and Doris Filley Munson. Fred received his education at Scranton High School and Penn State University. Until his retirement he was the co-owner and chief financial officer at Excel Mining in Cadiz, Ohio. In addition to his parents Fred was preceded in death by one brother Jesse G. Munson, Jr. in 1975. Surviving are his wife Therese (Murphy) Munson; two daughters Kaylee (Dan) Owen of Wintersville, OH and Kelley (Jeff) Berns of Ocean View, New Jersey; two sons Bradley (Jodie) Munson of St. Clairsville, OH and Greg (Mica) McFadden of Wintersville, OH; eight grandchildren DaKota McFadden, Greg McFadden, Jackson Owen, Elias Owen, Brendan Berns, Meghan Berns, Emma Munson and Eva Munson; two step grandchildren Hunter and Haylee Hoffman; one sister Sylvia (Charles) Hazelton of Olyphant, PA; two brothers Terrance (Eileen) Munson of Tamaqua, PA and Robert Munson of Scranton, PA; four nephews and one niece. At Fred's request there will be no visitation. A private funeral service for the family will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 with Father Tim Huffman from St. Peter's Catholic Church officiating. Interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Peter’s Catholic Church
