Frederick I. “Fred” Davis, 81, of Steubenville, Ohio died Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Trinity West. He was born May 27, 1925 in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Frederick I. And Velma Durbin Davis. Fred was an automobile salesman, having worked at several local dealerships. He was a member of Brentwood U.M. Church and an Army Air Corps. veteran of WWII. A 1942 graduate of Steubenville High School, he was a lifetime member of Musicians Union Local 223 and played trumpet in the Army Air Force Band. Surviving are his wife Joan L. Morrison Davis whom he married August 19, 1959; daughter Linda K. (Frank) Suponcic of Mentor, Ohio; son Frederick L. (Judy) Davis of Ocala, Florida; sister-in-law Shirley M. (William R.) Hair of Bloomingdale, Ohio; two grandchildren Alexis Leigh Suponcic and Jonathan Davis; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home in Wintersville Sunday 6 - 8 p.m. where services will be held Monday 11 a.m. with Rev Bill Westling officiating. Burial at New Alexandria Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or a charity of donors choice.
