Obituary For Franklin Angelo Maniatis

Franklin Angelo Maniatis, 85 , of Portland, Oregon passed away peacefully on March 1, 2005. He was born September 14, 1919 in Steubenville, a son of the late Franklin Nicholas and Tressa Mae Grafton Maniatis. His parents were the owners of the Lincoln Café and Olympic Restaurant in Steubenville. He was a semi-retired tool and die engineer and a proud WWII Navy veteran. While a student at Steubenville High School, Franklin printed the first copy of the school newspaper “The Beacon” on his own printing press. Preceding Franklin in death were his precious wife Iris; sister Helen and brother Bill. He is survived by his son Nick Maniatis; daughter Tina (Mike) Higgins; and the grandchildren whom he thought the world of, Tyler and Katie Higgins. There will be no visitation. Funeral services 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2005 at Union Cemetery Chapel, Steubenville with Very Rev. John J. Voytilla officiating. Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct services at the cemetery chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Association of Naval Aviation Foundation, 6044 E.
