Obituary For Francis R. Glasser

Francis R. Glasser, 86, of Steubenville, Ohio, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Trinity West.  He was born January 13, 1924 in Bellaire, Ohio a son of the late Frank and Eva Coher Glasser.  Francis was preceded in death by his first wife Ina Starr; infant daughter Bonnie Starr; brother Donald Glasser and two sisters Edna Morgan and Louella Wright.  Francis was a member of LaBelle View Church of Christ.  He retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel after 42 years of service as a welder and served in the US Army during WW II.  Surviving are his wife Olive L. Jones Glasser; son Francis R. “Fritz” (Janice) Glasser of Lewisburg, WV; daughter Sheila Ravasio of Steubenville, OH; stepdaughter Anne (Michael) Bulas of Newark, OH; eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren; four great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  Friends may call at Shorac Funeral Home (formerly McClave Funeral Home), 611 North 4th Street, Steubenville on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. with Minister Tom Arehart officiating.  Memorial donations may be directed to LaBelle View Church of Christ.

    To the Glasser Family, We are so sorry to hear about the passing of your dear Loves one. He was truly a special person. We had a lot of good times at the K-Mart Breakfast Club, we will truly miss him. We had alot of laughs and talks, we will truly treasure those moments.     Francis was a very special person to the Speaks family. He lived with us,for awhile, when I was a young girl & I have many stories about him. Francis was fun,loved to laugh,loved to play tricks on people,& I'll always remember his laugh. So many memories. Our family will miss hearing from Francis.

    Fritz, I'm sorry to have heard of your dad's passing. Having lost my dad just a couple weeks ago, it was nice to hear from classmates from so many years ago. As death is part of life, we have to be thankful of those many years we were so fortunate to have had with them. Keep those memories alive and know there are those of us who care. Sincerely, Nancy

    I remember Mr.Glasser as a kind and thoughtful man who used to cut mine and my brothers hair because we could not afford to go to a barber.Of playing with Fritz up on the hill,and the awesome cabin he made for fritz.You sir will truly be missed and honored.It was apleasure to know you Mr.Glasser.Sincerely Jerry Dear

    Olive and family, We were so sorry to here of Francis' passing. You all were always there for the Glasser Reunions and a stallwart of the family. We will miss him dearly.
