Frances L. “Ty” Smith, 73, of Wintersville, Ohio died Thursday, September 29, 2005 at Trinity West. She was born in Steubenville on February 23, 1932 a daughter of the late Gilbert and Thelma Rairigh Starr. Ty was a member of Hopedale Church of Christ. She was the manager of Fashion Bug in Hollywood Plaza. Preceding Ty in death were brothers Gilbert “Buster” Starr and Robert “Bobby” Starr and sister Audrey Mae House. Ty is survived by her husband James E. “Smitty” Smith whom she married on June 18, 1949; children Karen (Mark) Swickard of Toronto, Ohio, James T. (Sandra) Smith of Columbus, Ohio, J. Steven Smith of Dallas, Texas and Patti (John) Liapakis of Columbus; two grandsons Michael Todd (Amy) Carothers and John James Liapakis; and brother David (Betty) Starr of Wintersville. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Saturday 6-8 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., where services will be held 10 a.m. Monday with Minister Dean E.
