Obituary For Florence Rakich

Florence “Flo” Rakich, 90, of Steubenville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Willow Brook, Columbus, Ohio. She was born August 28, 1933 in Weirton, WV a daughter of the late Milan and Mildred Bastaja Banda. She was a member of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church, Holly Twig, Womans Advisory Board of Ohio Valley Hospital, Steubenville Library Board and Weir High School Class of 1951.

Flo was preceded in death by her husband Duke Rakich on May 20, 2016; siblings Nick (late June) Banda, Doug (late Lorena) Banda, Mitchell (late Eileen) Banda, Helen (late Murrill) Ralsten and Betty (late Ralph) LaPlante; sisters-in-law Dunnie (late Harold) Rakich Carter and Mimi (late George) Rakich Sarap.

Flo is survived by her two children Dr. Duke M. (Cheryl) Rakich and Dr. Dawn M. Rakich; three grandchildren Shane (Kaila) Rakich, Jake Rakich and Victoria Riley; and sister Dorothy (late James) Byers.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 12:30 p.m. with Very Rev. Rajko Kosic officiating. Entombment at Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Holy Resurrection Serbian Church or Petar Krstich Choir, 528 N. Fourth Street, Steubenville, OH 43952

    Dear Duke, Dawn and Families....I am deeply saddened to learn of Flo's passing. I so remember her with a smile on her face and visiting with her during the church picnics. She always wanted to know of my travels and where I was traveling to next. Please accept my deepest sympathies. You are in my prayers and thoughts during this difficult time. Memory Eternal Flo.

    Dawn and Duke. Sorry to hear about your Mom's recent passing. Your parents were such happy and gracious people. Will always remember seeing her at Williams and the picnic grounds. May her memory be eternal!
