Evelyn B. Howard Chappell, 82, of Wintersville, Ohio died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at her residence. She was born in Weems, Ohio on August 10, 1922 a daughter of the late John B. and Eva A. Beard Howard. Besides her parents Evelyn was preceded in death by a brother James Howard and a sister Nancy V. Allan Evelyn was a homemaker and a member of the Wintersville United Methodist Church; Mary Martha Circle of the United Methodist Women, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Taped Ministries of Wintersville United Methodist Church. She was chosen as Woman of the Year in 1985. Evelyn is survived by her husband William H. “Bill” whom she married in 1946; three sons Ronald W. (Mary) Chappell of Rock Island IL, Gary L (Marilyn) Chappell of Maryville, TN and Bruce H. (Kate) Chappell of Winchester, VA; daughter Carol E. Chappell and her husband (Jeff Whiteman) of Columbus, Ohio; three grandsons Seth, Ben and Liam two granddaughters Lucy and Abby; and two great-grandsons Taylor and Seth II. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. where services will be held Friday 10 a.m. with Rev. Clint Quillen & Rev. Deborah Kellar officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben. Memorial contributions may be made to Wintersville United Methodist Womens Club or Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 6th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
