Ethelda V. Trachsel 81 of New Philadelphia, Ohio passed away Sunday, March 13, 2005 at the home of her sister in Wintersville. She was born in Bloomingdale, Ohio on August 31, 1923, daughter of the late Lawrence W. and Martha Virginia Hervey Merryman. Ethelda was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in New Philadelphia. She worked as a secretary at the former Wayne High School and retired as an accounting clerk from McKnight Trucks. Preceding Ethelda in death were her first husband Wilbur Howard killed in action during WWII in 1944; second husband Harold R. Trachsel on December 2, 2002; daughter Brenda Sue Warren; and three sisters Mary Murdock, Louise McClurg and Anna McClure. Ethelda is survived by her two sons Richard A. (Artenzia) Howard of Martinsburg, WV and Cuyler (Judy) Trachsel of Strasburg, Ohio; son-in-law Lyle Warren of Coshocton, Ohio; granddaughters Paula (Brian) Erickson, Lisa (George) Mellott, Jennifer (Erick) Asanovich, Julie (Darren) Bonar and Mandy (Micah) Hagan; grandson Casey (Amber) Warren; great grandchildren Jack Gunner Erickson, Tyler Noah Mellott, Katherine Grace and Matthew Eric Asanovich, Caden, Nathan and Kaitlyn Bonar; Nolan and Lucas Hagan and Chance Warren; and three sisters Ruth (Jim) Musgrave with whom she resided, Erma (Don) Vetter and Katherine Vale both of Fowler, IN. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road (740.264.0563), Wintersville, Ohio on Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.; where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Terry Kidd and Rev. Bill Waltz officiating. Burial at Bloomingdale Cemetery.
