Obituary For Ethel Scott

Ethel Scott, 92, of Steubenville, Ohio died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Valley Hospice Care Center North.  She was born October 24, 1917 a daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude Scarbrough Gallagher.  Ethel was a member of Wintersville United Methodist Church, Steubenville Womens Club and a former member of the former LaBelle View Methodist Church.  Preceding Ethel in death were three sisters Geraldine Murray, Dorothea Beckett and Audrey Criss.  Surviving are her husband of 69 years, whom she married on June 12, 1940 John W. Scott, Sr.; daughter Jacqueline (Norbert) Farnaus of Downers Grove, IL; son John W. (Bendett) Scott Jr. of Mingo Junction, OH; five grandchildren Scott (Nicole) Farnaus, Jennifer (Tracy) Van Houtan, Elizabeth (Michael) Sara, Kristin (Anthony) Fante and Erin (Lance) Coulter; 13 great grandchildren Alex, Quin, Caden and Gabriella Farnaus, Noah, Emily and Laine Van Houtan, Audrey and Elise Sara and Morgan, Madison, Bryce and Matthew Coulter.  Friends may call  at Shorac Funeral Home, 611 North Fourth Street, Steubenville (Formerly McClave Funeral Home) on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. with Rev. Clint Quillen officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be directed to Noah’s Hope at noahshope.com or send a check to Noah Van Houtan, 2050 Prairie Avenue, Downers Grove, IL 60515.  The family would like to thank the staff of Valley Hospice for their care and compassion.

    Will miss my sweatpea and hope she finds many friend in heaven.She was my aunt, but she was also a very good friend. She will be missed, her smiles and laughter heer love of live and having people around her. With a heavy heart and with much sorrow, we Rex,Bert,Melinda,and Mike Criss say a prayer for her and may God Bless her and keep her.

    Big E. was one in a million. Glad she was on this Earth so long to brighten our days. She was always fun to teach computer use to, so I spent lots of fun times with her in later years. Thanks for the memories, Big E.! Smiles.....

    Jacque and John,We were very sorry to hear that your mother passed away. I have so many good memories of growing up with the Scott family. Your mom and dad were always so good to me.
