Ernie has always been so nice and friendly. When my children were little ( I have 3) he used to say to them "eeny, meeny, miney, and ain't no mo. They always cracked up when he said that to them. He has always been a Steubenville Icon rolling around on his scooter in all kinds of weather. He will be missed.

I met Ernie in the 1960's...I was in the 3rd or 4th grade at St. Anthony School. .Ernie lived close to where I grew up and I worked in downtown Steubenville for over 30 years where I saw him very often. Ernie never lead a privileged life as he worked hard for everything he had. Never asked for anything. God has a special place in Heaven for a man like you,Ernie. Rest with the Angels.

I often kept score for Ernie at his softball games back in the mid 70s. Would you believe he messaged me 10 years ago to tell me he still had those scorecards with my name on them! R.I. P. Ernie. You were always a good friend to everyone.

So many memories of Ernie. Sharing time at the YMCA watching him play basketball while I ran the clock. Growing up in our neighborhood around St. Stans., Ernie would always bring a team to play our groups at Flats. Just a great guy to be around. I loved officiating his softball games and watching him pitch. He was like Charlie Brown! Always the pitcher. The world would be a better place with more Ernie Hollingers! The good Lord must be looking downd on this world thru a dirty window and needed Ernie to clean it! Rest in peace my dear friend! There will never be another one like you.

Kindly direct me to a page collecting funds for a mural or nutcracker. I tried to get a nutcracker collection started a few years ago for him so he could SEE how loved he WAS. But unfortunately, we tend to wait lose loved ones before we do the big gestures. I have to believe in my heart that Ernie knew exactly how much we all loved him by our daily beeps and lovely conversations. Rest in peace my friend. We miss you everyday.

My heart is so sad on the passing of Ernie... He was one of the kindest, sweetest souls that I had the pleasure of knowing. Ernie always had a smile on his face and kind and caring words to say when I would greet him with a "How are you doing Ernie" upon seeing him. The world was a better place with this kind souls presence and it was such a Blessing to know Ernie. May you Rest In Peace with all those angels, family and friends Ernie. We will Never forget you...❤️🙏☮️

I first met Ernie back in the day when he was racking balls down at TR's Pool hall on Adams St. He was always a good guy it seemed and a hard worker even then. I'm sure there are many whom met him and will have a story or 2 to tell. I seen him once when I was home visiting and he told me he was washing windows and I joked with him he would be the new Bible Bill. He laughed He was always seeming in good spirits.Rest in peace Ernie.

I remember Ernie in school at Big Red, particularly in his role of manager for athletic teams and his participation in the YMCA activities, especially basketball. He was a "hustler" in the best sense of the word, always giving his best effort in whatever he was doing. Having moved from the area in the early '60's, I lost track of many friends over the years. About 10 years ago, I was in the area and bumped into him and we picked up our relationship like it was 1959! Truly we had a bond built on our mutual experiences in school.A good person, who I count as a friend. May he rest in peace.Wally NeelSHS 1960
