Emily J. Bender, 83, of Steubenville, Ohio died Thursday, September 1, 2005 at Dixon Health Care Center. Emily was born in Greenville, SC on January 2, 1922, a daughter of the late Leslie L. and Ruth Poteat Bender. Preceding Emily in death was a sister Mary Lou Haverland. Emily is survived by a brother-in-law Dr. Harry W. Haverland. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Reidsville, NC.
