Elizabeth “Bette” Ruff, of Barnesville, OH formerly of Steubenville went to be with her Lord on May 19, 2008. She was born in Steubenville on November 20, 1917 to Evan and Elizabeth Edwards Hopkins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years Flavil L. Ruff; brother Thomas W. Hopkins. Bette had been an active member of Finley United Methodist Church in Steubenville until her move to Barnesville in 2001. There she attended Barnesville Church of the Nazarene. She was active in her missionary group at Finley and in the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union. She was known for her dramatic readings at church, school and civic functions throughout the Steubenville area. Bette leaves her children; Rev. Garry (Nancy) Ruff of Long Beach, MS, Rev. Jerry (Sharon) Ruff of Sicklerville, NJ and Dr. June (Rev. Charles) Leasure of Barnesville, OH; 4 grandchildren; Dr. Paul (Cindy) Ruff, Lori (John) Cripple, Stephanie (Bryce) Hogan and Stephen Ruff; 5 great grandchildren; nephews Larry (Carol) Hopkins and Rev. Ron (Becky) Hopkins; niece Marlene (Tom) Call and nieces and nephews by marriage. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Wednesday from 6-8p.m. Friends may also call at Finley United Methodist Church on Thursday from 12:30p.m. until time of service at 1:30p.m. with Rev. We may be in Florida, but our hearts are there with you this evening. Our prayers are that you will be strengthened and renewed in the days ahead. We still take "pride and joy" in referring to "Aunt Bette". She was a very special lady and we will miss her.
