Obituary For Elizabeth I. Sweeney

Elizabeth I. "Lib" Sweeney, 81, of Bloomingdale, Ohio died Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Weirton Medical Center. She was born December 30, 1932 in Henshaw, Kentucky a daughter of the late William & Katherine Louie Young. She was the retired director of housekeeping at the former St. John Medical Center and Catholic by faith. Preceding Elizabeth in death were her husband John J. Sweeney on May 15, 2012 and a brother John Young, Sr.and siser Evadon Long.Elizabeth is survived by her children Jeffrey (Diane) Sweeney & Karen (Richard) DeStefanis of Hopedale, Deborah (James) Kuczynski of Bloomingdale, Kevin (Carla) Sweeney & Theresa Penner of Wintersville and sister Nancy Arthurs of Steubenville. Also surviving are the joys of her life, her seven grandchildren, Natalie (Tim) Kovaleski, Libby Kuczynski, John “J.J.” (Katie) Kuczynski, Sarah (fiancé Michael Corcoran) Kuczynski, Kevin Sweeney, Caity Sweeney & Cameron Penner and four great grandchildren Izzy & Addie Kovaleski, Lily Stewart & Liam Kuczynski; and numerous nieces and nephews.Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home in Wintersville on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. John McCoy officiating. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society.

    Debbie and Family, So sorry to read about your Mother. She was a grand lady and very much a part of the family. I am sure she will be missed. Pat Smith and I will be traveling to Utah Sunday on an Amtrak so we will be out of town until the 13th. We will not be able to be with you Monday but we will be thinking about you. May God Bless you.     Jeff So sorry to hear of your lose. your mother gave me my first tropical fish. I have had aquariums ever since. From teaching at Grant school to my showroom here in Santa Barbara. She was special..

    To the Sweeney Family, Mrs Sweeney, The Pride of Oak Grove Ave! Many, many happy memories of your mother. "Jim Dandy to the rescue" & "Dancin' Machine" come to mind. She was a 'ball', loved all the great times we had together and much love to your mom! I thought of her frequently & hope you all have peaceful and pleasant memories.
