Obituary For Elizabeth A. "Liz" Crothers

Elizabeth A. “Liz” Crothers, 76, of Wintersville, Ohio died Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Trinity West ER. She was born in Mingo Junction, Ohio on November 11, 1939 a daughter of the late George and Martha Kniszek Kotora. She was preceded also in death by a brother Edward G. Kotora. Liz retired from the former Midway Foodland as a cashier and was an active member at Steubenville First Church of the Nazarene where she served in the capacity of Steward. She was known to have a “green thumb” for growing flowers in her garden and made sure her family and friends enjoyed their beauty. She graduated from Mingo High School Class of 1957 and was a current member of Mingo Women’s Club. She is survived by her husband William D. “Bill” Crothers Sr. at home, daughter Karen (Richard) Mathieu of Bloomingdale, son William D. “Bill” Crothers Jr. of Wintersville; two grandchildren Dr. Erica (Jeff) Moorman of Cincinnati and Brandon Mathieu of Columbus; brother John (Judy) Kotora of Strongsville, Ohio; sisters Mary Jane (Dominic) Tiberio of Steubenville, Martha (John) Hannen of California and Dorothy Barker of Beaver, PA and a special niece Darlene (Dr. William) Barson of Columbus. Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Rev. Ron Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Steuben. Memorial contributions may be directed to Steubenville First Church of the Nazarene.

    Liz was one of the first people I meet when Sugar and I married and I came to Ohio. That was in 1976. Liz was always smiling and always had time to chat wherever you meet. A special Lady I will always remember. From the Gibbons Family our Deepest Sympathy.

    It is so sad to see the passing of your dear loved one. My sincere sympathies to her entire family. I worked with Liz at Midway Mkt. She was a joy to work with. She was one of the sweetest happiest people I had the pleasure of knowing. I will miss bumping into her with her bright smile and so happy to see you attitude. Yes she was very special.
