Eleanor Wojcik Karpowicz, 84, of Rocklin, CA, died Thursday, August 16, 2007. She was born July 24, 1923 in Holidays Cove, WV a daughter of the late Thaddeus and Julia Orwosky Wojcik. Eleanor joined the Womens Marine Corps after graduating from Weir High School. She married Lt. James C. Karpowicz, formerly of Steubenville, while on military leave in 1944. She traveled all over the world as a military wife and mother, raising their three children. After retirement, the couple moved to Largo, FL and then to Rocklin, CA. Eleanor is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jim; sons Jim Jr. and Bob; daughter Frances; grandson Roger; granddaughter Jennifer; brother Don Wojcik of Weirton; and sister Joanne Pucci of Moor Park, CA. Friends may call at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 200 Rosemont Avenue, Steubenville on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral liturgy with mass at 10 a.m. with Rev. Timothy McGuire officiating. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct services at the cemetery.
