Rev. Edwin F. Fontaine 83 of Steubenville, Ohio died Thursday, November 7, 2002 at Trinity West, Steubenville. He was born in Indiana, PA on May 8, 1919 a son of the late Edwin S. and Yada Walker Fontaine. He graduated from Grove City College in 1941 and Pittsburgh Xenia Seminary in 1944. On June 14, 1944 he was ordained as a teaching elder in East Mansfield, OH where his first pastorate lasted until November of 1947. He then accepted a call to Argyll, NY serving there until 1951. His next pastorate was Zanesville, OH where he served until moving to Steubenville to accept a call on June 14, 1960. He served as the pastor for the 2nd United Presbyterian Church, which later became Covenant Presbyterian Church, until his retirement in July of 1988. He also served as interim pastor in Monroeville, P A for 2 Yz years. Proceeded in death by daughter Carolyn Lee Fontaine. He is survived by his wife Mary Lee Ibberson Fontaine, whom he married on August 11, 1943, in Curwensville, PA, son David E. (Michele) Fontaine of Omaha, NE, daughters Suzanne (George) Pagels of Kansas City, MO, Mary Frances (George) Kurz of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Amy K. Fontaine of Steubenville, OH, brother Clayton W. (Helen) Fontaine of Clearwater, FL, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Friends may also call at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Steubenville on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Walter A. Coppersmith and Rev. Charles Winkler officiating. Burial at Marion Center Cemetery, Marion Center, PA.
