Obituary For Edward W. Goddard

Edward W. Goddard, 82, of Stratton, OH died Thursday, January 17, 2019 at his daughter’s residence. He was born in Steubenville on April 15, 1936 a son of the late Pemberton and Lila Piddock Goddard. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, where he worked in the 80” and the Blast Furnace. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and was stationed in both England and Alaska. Edward graduated from Toronto High School and was a member of the Buck Tales Gun Club, Toronto, OH. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Anna Marie “Peggy” Frantz Goddard; second wife Deloris J. “Dee” Bergles Goddard; sister Betty June Goddard; brothers Jack Lee, Frank Eugene and Roger Allen Goddard; step-sons William and Frederick Dye. Edward is survived by daughters Peggy Ann Zende and Susan Rae Haines; step-daughters Sis (Howard) Stine, JoAnn (William) Martin, Elaine (Floyd) Wright, Cindy Ighnat, Kim (Bob) Freeman and Judy Wilson; sisters Diane Lynn Baker, Barbara Ellen Goddard, Mary Alice Meyer and Janet (Ernest) Elder; grandson Edward Zende; granddaughters Rachael Haines and Sarah Guzman; numerous other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 with Rev. C. Robert Meyer officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery. Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct graveside honors.

    It was a real pleasure to have known Ed in my associations with him at the Bucktales Club shooting events. He will be sadly missed on the firing line.
