Edward L. Kliner 80 of Wintersville, Ohio died Monday, March 29, 2004 at Trinity West. He was born on September 14, 1923 in Island Creek, Ohio a son of the late Stephen and Anna Liptak Kliner. Ed was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Mens Club; American Legion Argonne Post 33; and a graduate of Catholic Central High School. He was retired from Ohio Bell and served in the Army during WWII. Ed was the former treasurer of Wintersville. He was preceded in death by his wife E. Jane Hoover Kliner on August 22, 1996; infant daughter Margaret; two sisters Mildred Bair and Agnes Mavromatis; and five brothers Joseph, Steve, Emil, William and Ambrose Kliner. Surviving are two sons Edward L. (Sherry) Kliner of Wintersville and Mark (Marie) Kliner of Mesa, Arizona; two daughters Shirley (Mike) Smith of Fresno, Ohio and Mary (Roger) Cadwell of Portage, Michigan; and one sister Martha VanFossan of Wintersville; eight grandchildren Michelle Mills, Kimberly Abel, J.C. Kliner, Rachelle Smith, Jesse Cadwell, John Walker, Valerie Martin and Eric Walker; and twelve great grandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Liturgy with mass 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament with Msgr. Gerald E. Calovini officiating. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Vigil services 3:45 p.m. Friday. Legion Post 33 will conduct services at the cemetery chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church.
