Edward J. Smith, 68, of Steubenville died peacefully Monday, May 17, 2010 at Valley Hospice North surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Steubenville on October 3, 1941 a son of the late Henry W. Smith, Sr. He was a 1959 graduate of Steubenville High School and a retired construction worker. Ed had also tended bar at several places over the years; played guitar and sang in numerous bands throughout the Valley. He is survived by his son Edward (Michelle) Smith of North Ridgeville, OH; daughter Shanley (Tony) Demitras of Toronto, OH; mother Elizabeth A. Lewis Smith and brother Henry W. Smith, Jr., both of Steubenville; grandchildren Alijah, Andoni, Aizek, Ayla and Lilly; uncles Frank (Michelle) Tice of East Liverpool. OH and Ken (Leorna) Lewis of Florida; aunt Shirley Lewis of California and his favorite cousin Marge Morris of California. He also will be missed by his cats. A celebration of his life will be held at The Spot Bar in Steubenville on Sunday, 1p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice in Steubenville. “Goodbye No Bar”.
