Obituary For Edward J. Chanoski, Sr.

Edward J. “Eddie Joe” Chanoski, Sr., 77, of Steubenville, Ohio passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Valley Hospice surrounded by family. He was born in Steubenville on September 1, 1946, son of the late Edward S. and Elverda Rock Chanoski. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a 1964 graduate of CCHS.

Eddie Joe retired from Laborers Local 809 and was proud to work for Davy Songer as a construction general foreman. He spent his life working all over the country to provide for his family and give them a path to a bright future.

Preceding Eddie Joe in death were his parents, two brothers, James and Lee Chanoski, and his beloved daughter Tammy J. Chanoski Nodianos who he missed terribly, and we know he is thrilled to be holding her in his arms right now.

Eddie Joe is survived by his wife Sandra L. Spencer Chanoski; son Edward J. (Laura) Chanoski, Jr.; son-in-law Steve Nodianos, three granddaughters Amanda and Vanessa Nodianos & Olivia Chanoski; sister-in-law Melanie Smith, brothers-in-law Chuck (Brenda) Spencer and Rick (Donna) Spencer, a niece and 7 nephews that he loved.

Eddie Joe’s passions extended beyond his family and work. He was a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and The Ohio State Buckeyes Fan. He loved playing golf & cards, taking his wife to the Casino, cheering on his granddaughters in all they did, and spending time with his extended family at The Spot Bar.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at 12:30 p.m. Entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Tammy Nodianos Scholarship at Steubenville High School.

Uncle Eddie -Went above and beyond as a Uncle to my brother Luke and I. Looking back I now realize the relationship he had with my Aunt Sandy, his children, grandchildren and the rest of his family was a demonstration of unconditional love which I got to observe and learn from. His memory I well forever cherish. LoveZachary
