Dr. Romulo “Romy” I. Alcantara, 72, of Steubenville died Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at his home. He was born in San Pablo City, Laguna Philippines on January 15, 1935 the son of the late Pedro and Consuelo Irlandez Alcantara. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a retired medical doctor from Trinity West / St. John Hospital. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Natividad and Sister Alicia Alcantara. He is survived by his wife Rosita “Rose” Bautista Alcantara; children Rosette (David) Doyle of Uniontown, Ohio, Dr. Rosemarie Sheila (Richard) Read of Centerville, Ohio and Romulo (Melissa) Alcantara II of Bellbrook, Ohio; grandchildren Christopher David, Connor Michael and Isabella Consuelo Ann Doyle, Myles Esteban Read and Alexandrea Marie Alcantara. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Friday from 3-6 p.m. Funeral Liturgy with mass 7 p.m. Friday evening at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Tuttle as celebrant. Entombment 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Vigil service 3:45 p.m. Friday In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 2565 Alexander Ave., Steubenville, Ohio 43952.
