Dear Estelle, Susie and Jim, My sincerest condolences to you in your grief. Herb and Lester were good friends, colleagues, and awesome professionals we all learned from on how to work and play and to parent well. Our families were blessed. My brothers and I grew up in Dr. Shire's gently care and share good memories of his practice and recalled the fun waiting in the children's section until called for our own exam. Although both Pearl and Lester have died, I know they would have wanted to tell you Estelle how much they did so like Herb! May his name be a blessing for us to repeat. My warmest regards to each of you and our past memories we shared together. Leslie Stein Buerki, Springfield, Oh

As one of eight Dunlevy sons I too was a life-long fan of Dr. Shire. I can not remember one time I dreaded going to the dentist. His friendly and caring personality worked better than today's "put you to sleep," methods. While in the navy there wasn't a dentist visit without, "You sure had a good dentist." The most important action for which we are all most appreciative was giving us many more years with our dad. Dr. Shire did what we couldn't. He got dad to go downtown to find out why his voice sounded as it did. He prolonged dads life. Bless you Dr. Shire, and thank you again.

Dr. Shire was a very special dentist and person, I took my children to him as soon as they could walk, they loved him so much and so did I and my husband. When we moved from Steubenville to a town about 400 miles away I would still come back for my dental problems. I and my daughter have been trying to get in touch with him for over a year all we knew was that he was in Columbus. But Dr. Shire I want you to know we never forgot you and never will. Rest with the angels Dolores
