Dorothy V. Davis, 99, of Steubenville, Ohio died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at Lancia Villa Royale. She was born December 12, 1906, in Steubenville, a daughter of the late Thomas B. “Bud” and Doretta L. Bartels Hunter. Dorothy was a member of First Westminster Presbyterian Church. A 1924 graduate of the former Wells High School, she worked as a legal secretary. Dorothy also held membership in the Larkspur Twig of the former Ohio Valley Hospital; Kings Daughters and the board of Martha Manor. Preceding Dorothy in death were her two husbands, Chester R. Boylan in 1963 and Bernard E. Davis in 1972; one brother, Thomas D. “Bud” Hunter; and one sister, Frances M. McLister. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Dorette E. Boylan of Steubenville; son Dr. Hunter R. (Barbara) Boylan of Boone, NC; granddaughter Heather M. (Matthew) Boylan-Clark of Pittsburgh, PA; and five nephews Thomas D. Hunter of Wintersville; James W. Hunter of Aurora, OH; Dr. Roger Boylan of Tempe, AZ; Howard Boylan of Charlotte, NC; and Dr. Richard Boylan of Oklahoma City, OK. Private services will be held at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home with Rev. Robert J. Shearer officiating and burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Jefferson County Animal Welfare League or Valley Hospice, Inc.
