Obituary For Dorothy M. Ward

Dorothy M. Ward, 97, of Steubenville, Ohio died Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Wyngate, Weirton, WV. She was born August 18, 1910 in Pittsburgh, PA a daughter of the late Walter and Johanna Harr Locke. Dorothy has led an active and full life. She was a member of Two Ridges Presbyterian Church and Wintersville Garden Club, where she was the first president and helped establish a second garden club in the area. She was also the first president of the Town and Country Women’s Club. She was famous for her many Christmas decorations and wreaths. She managed the snack bar at the Ohio Valley Hospital for many years. She enjoyed traveling and visited forty countries and islands on six continents. Dorothy will be remembered for her very positive outlook on life and she always had a smile for everyone. Anyone who knew her can feel blessed for the joy she brought to the world. Preceding Dorothy in death was her husband Arthur Ward. Surviving are two daughters Karen (Michael) DiLeonardo and Monalee (Fritz) Meyers; grandchildren Michelle and David DiLeonardo and Howard Keith Williams; great grandson Ian Williams; sister Edith (Robert) Neelan and brother Walter (Juanita) Locke. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Doug Shoaff officiating. Burial at Allegheny County Memorial Park, Pittsburgh, PA. Memorial donations may be directed to First Christian Church.

    Monalee, I'm sorry to read that you mother has passed away. You are so lucky to have had her for such a long time. I was in school with you and have many memories of how lovely you were and I'm sure, still are. GAye Powell

    Dear Karen and family, How glad you must be to have had your mother for so many years! I know how difficult it is for you to face the death of your mother because I did the same two and a half years ago. Keep all the sweet memories you have of her alive in your hearts and she will be with you always. You will be in my prayers.
