Obituary For Dorothy J. Humes

Dorothy J. Humes, 95, of Steubenville, Ohio died Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Country Club Manor. She was born August 16, 1917 in New Alexandria, Ohio a daughter of the late Floyd & Bertha McCann Miller. Dorothy was a member of Finley U.M. Church and Cedar Twig. Dorothy was an avid bowler, golfer and boater. Preceding her in death were her husband William R. Humes; son Richard G. Humes; daughter Nancy Paris; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother Rev. William Miller and sister Lois Felton.Dorothy is survived by her daughter Donna (Gil) Collins of Steubenville; son Charles (Kae) Humes of Mingo Junction; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Ernst officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery.

    DEAR HUMES FAMILY, I DID NOT REALIZE, MRS HUMES JUST PASSED, My family lived next door on Commercial Ave. Mary O'Connor was my grandmother, and my Dad John ran around with the Humes Boy's, back in the day, Then we moved to Wintersville. I remember Mrs Humes playing her organ and singing and I use to go to the same church with Martha Jackson,& Mother. and to Summer Church School, thoes were the days. Mrs. H. sure blessed this earth. Remembering you all at this time, celebrate her life. I, Carol O'Connor now in my 60's , live in Delray Beach , Florida
