On behalf of the Society of Air Force Nurses, please know we are mourning with you the death of our sister nurse, Dorothy June. It takes a patriot, willing to give of themselves to other human beings in their time of need, to step forth and join the ranks of our U. S. Air Force Nurse Corps. Your beloved one will be mourned and missed by many who served alongside her. We will include her name in our Memorial Program of the Society of Air Force Nurses in commemoration of her life and service to our nation. With Sincerest Regards and Gratitude, Wendy S. Wayne, I was saddened to read of Dorothy's passing. She holds a special place in my heart. Her humor made me laugh; her kindnesses to me were many; and knowing her and working with her was a pleasure. Because Jose and I will be out of town, I will not be able to attend her viewing or her funeral. However, my thoughts and prayers will be with you, Wayne, and your family. Joan Martinez

Uncle Wayne, David, and Dan: Please accept our deepest sympathy for the loss of this exceptional woman. When thinking of Aunt Sis words that describe her such as caring, loving, God, witty, intelligent, giving, being a Christian, proud, hard working, mentor, FUN, hilarious, sincere, good cook are just a few. For those who know her, that is just the tip of the iceberg. There will always and forever be a piece of Dorothy Hackathorne in my sole. We will miss her. Sincerely, Rod Ross and Family (The Arizona Gang)

Wayne, David, and Danny, So sorry to hear of 'Mrs. Hack's passing. Wow. What a wonderful wife/mom/neighbor she was...and so loved by everyone. She definitely lived a very full life. It's hard to think of our life in the Fernwood house without thinking of her...and all her crazy dogs. I'll never forget how she was always finding jobs for me to do so she could pay me....cleaning the pool, sorting pictures, etc. She hangs on my Christmas tree every year, in an ornament, holding my daughter right after she was born. It was so great having her in the delivery room. Hope you all are doing well. Love Nikki

Just wanted to offer my condolences on Dorothy's passing. I am a CRNA in Ohio and although I met her after she had retired, I can attest to her photography skills! I recall many meetings and occasions seeing Dorothy with her camera-the images she captured live on in our state association! The obituary shows what a truly accomplished person Dorothy was! May she rest in peace! Sincerely, Christine Fultz

Dear Family and Friends of Dorothy I am a CRNA in Cleveland Ohio and I have had the pleasure to know Dorothy because of all her hard work and dedication to OSANA. I am so sorry to hear of Dorothy's passing. I knew Dorothy as a CRNA through her work on the Ohio State Association of Nurse Anesthetists. She was a wonderful person who gave generously of her time to our association and helped put OSANA on a firm financial foundation. Her dedication to the profession was an inspiration to me as a new graduate. Her presence (and her camera!) at our state and national meetings will be missed.

I had the priviledge of being a student under Dorothy for 2 years as a student of nurse anesthesia in Steubenville many years ago. At a difficult time in the program, Dorothy was as steadfast and willing to share her extensive background as any and as humble as the day is long. For many years, I have quoted her and areas of her professionalism fondly! She was REAL and dedicated to her profession without being boastful...truly an asset to our profession! God's blessings to her family in their loss.

I am so sorry to hear of Dorothy's passing. She had been one of the CRNAs that my mother, Ruth Wright, CRNA and myself always enjoyed catching up with at the AANA National meeting, especially at the Anesthesia Pioneers get together's. I am sure that she and my Mom are already organizing another group up there. Rest in Peace. Lynn L. Lebeck, CRNA PhD
