Dorothy I. Bates, 96, of Bloomingdale, Ohio passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 at Weirton Medical Center. She was born July 24, 1919 in Steubenville a daughter of the late Robert & Isabella Young Allan. Preceding Dorothy in death were her husband James G. Bates; son Robert G. Bates; grandson Edward Bates; great grandson Nolan Dallman; two brothers John & James Allan; three sisters Marguerite Coventry, Christine George and Betty Davis.

Dorothy is survived by her sons Geary A. (Mary Kay) Bates and Eric J. (Delores) Bates; daughter-in-law Darlene Bates; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
