Obituary For Doris Rose Plotts

“An Angel Walks Among Us”

On July 25th, Doris Rose Plotts went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was born June 5, 1931 in Steubenville, OH, daughter of Howard and Floy Dean Jones. She was a graduate of Wintersville High School, Class of 1949. While in high school, Doris met the love of her life, Donald “Duck” Plotts whom she knew she would marry the first time she saw him. They married on May 17, 1949 and enjoyed 54 years of a marriage exemplary of love, commitment, and laughter. They were blessed with three children, Donnie, Darlene (Perky), and Debbie. Although Doris worked as an office manager for Wintersvile Foodland, she was foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.

Rooted in Faith, Doris was strongly committed to God and His church. She was a selfless, tireless warrior for Christ, spreading His message to all she met. Doris loved being surrounded by family and friends, never meeting a stranger. Her generosity knew no limits; her spirit and faith made an indelible imprint on so many. She will be greatly missed!

Besides her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her son, Donnie, brother Roy Jones, sisters Selma Thomas, Betty Pesta, and Susie Flaherty, and sister-in-law, Donna Geary. She is survived by her daughters, Darlene (Perky) Armstrong and husband, John; Debbie Mathieu and husband, Bob; brother, Howard (Junior) Jones; and daughter-in-law, Chrystal Ellerbee. Doris is also survived by grandchildren, Shawn “Tonia” Hervey, Rachel “Chris” Simpson, Robert “Deanna” Mathieu, Andrew “Andrea” Mathieu, and Emily Mathieu and fiancé Matthew Earley as well as great-grandchildren, Joel, Haylee, Evan, Chase, Wyatt, Brody, and Ella.
