Donna Rae Hersko, 75, of Steubenville passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Valley Hospice North after a brief illness. She was born July 6, 1938 a daughter of the late Angelo and Anna Topich Talamine. In addition to her parents Donna has now been reunited in heaven with her beloved son John E. Hersko, Jr. who passed away October 21, 1988; brothers Norman W., Donald J., Harvey G. and Raymond L. Talamine; niece Donna Jean LeMasters and nephew Kenneth W. Talamine. Left to treasure many wonderful memories are her cherished son Donald Hersko and granddaughter Amy Hersko, both of Columbus, OH; sister-in-law Rita Talamine of Steubenville and many nieces, nephews and their families. Donna was a 1956 graduate of Steubenville High School and for 25 years was the owner and operator of the former Frosty Treat Dairy Aisle in Wintersville. She then went on to work for the former Elby’s Restaurant on Sunset Blvd. and at the Fort Steuben Mall in Steubenville and was most recently employed at King’s Family Restaurant in Wintersville as a hostess, where she was known for having a smile and kind word for everyone she greeted. Donna was a woman who embraced life with a great faith in God, delightful sense of humor, compassion and unconditional love. These gifts were used to nurture and guide her family every day. Hers was truly a life well lived. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH Friday from 4-8p.m. Friends may also call on Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 10a.m. until time of service 11a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Steubenville with Rev. David McCloskey officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery. Her family would like to thank the staff of Valley Hospice for the wonderful care and kindness shown to Donna and family during this time of sorrow. Words cannot express our gratitude.

I am so sorry to hear of Donna's passing. I not only worked with Donna at the mall in the card shop, and later worked for her at Frosty Treat. She was a sweet lady with a wonderful and welcoming personality.
