Obituary For Donald L. Plotts

Donald “Duck” Plotts 74 of Bloomingdale, Ohio passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 13, 1930 in Steubenville, the son of the late Donald and Dorothy Plotts. A graduate of Wintersville High School he entered the Marine Corps in 1949 and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sargeant in 1952. He worked at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. for forty-four years in the Follansbee Coke Plant as a pipe fitter and foreman, retiring in 1992. Donald is survived by his wife of 54 years Doris Jones Plotts; son Donald (Chrystal) Plotts of Apopka, Florida; daughters Darlene “Perky” (John) Armstrong of Wintersville, Ohio and Debbie (Robert) Mathieu of Bloomingdale; sister Donna Lee (Don) Geary of Follansbee, WV; five grandchildren T. Shawn Hervey, Rachel Plotts Klapel, Robert Mathieu, Andrew Mathieu and Emily Mathieu; four step-grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Donald was a member of Harrison Hills United Pentecostal Church in Jewett, Ohio. He also held membership at Jefferson County Sportsmans Club and United Steelworkers Local 1190. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports serving as a coach for youth sports and as his grandchildrens’ Number 1 fan. But first and foremost, he was a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather and friend. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor J. Hugh Rose officiating. Interment at Richmond Union Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Harrison Hills United Pentecostal Church. Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad to conduct cemetery services.
