Obituary For Donald Firm

Donald Firm, 90, of Steubenville, Ohio died Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Carriage Inn of Steubenville.  He was born February 12, 1920 in Steubenville, Ohio a son of the late Robert and Ruby Winters Firm.  Donald was a member of Starkdale Presbyterian Church.  He was a 1938 graduate of Wells High School and was a Sergeant in the 9th Air Force during WW II.  Donald worked for Bond Bread and later retired from Modern Dairy.  He was an avid golfer and spent most of his free time at Belleview golf course and was an avid gardener.  Preceding him in death were his wife Virginia G. Branciaroli Firm; six brothers Albert, Dale, Kenneth, Floyd, Howard and Harry Firm and two sisters Elizabeth Hannan and Ruth Firm.  Surviving are his daughter Donna Firm of Gahanna, OH; two sons Robert Firm of Steubenville, OH and Kenneth (Elaine) Firm of Steubenville, OH; granddaughter Linda Oxenrider of Beavercreek, OH and many nieces and nephews.   Friends may call at Shorac Funeral Home, 611 North Fourth St., Steubenville (formerly McClave Funeral Home) on Tuesday 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. and on Wednesday at Starkdale Presbyterian Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Philip Makari officiating.  Burial at Union Cemetery where Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will perform military honors.  Memorial donations may be directed to Starkdale Presbyterian Church.

    PLease accept my deepest and sincerest condolences on the loss of your dad. I can remember your dad when I was a child and would walk to Modern Dairy to buy milk. Your dad always very pleasant and always had a wonderful smile and was very helpful. My prays are with you all.

    Dear Firm family You have our deepest sympathies in the loss of your dear loved one. He was my first cousin whom I had not seen for a number of years. I remember him as a kind and friendly man, I'm sure he will be missed. Bill and Donna Snyder
