Donald E. “Donnie” Scott, Jr., 60, of Wintersville, OH passed away, Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Trinity West ER. He was born in Steubenville on October 25, 1955 a son of the late Donald E. Scott, Sr. and Diane Cottis Scott who survives. Donnie was a graduate of Wintersville High School and retired from Weirton Steel as a heavy equipment operator. He also was a former Cross Creek Township police officer and a former fire fighter and EMT for Wintersville. He served as the secretary for the F.O.P. Lodge 97 in 1978. He was a former board member of the Mingo Sportsman’s Club and currently served on the board at the Jefferson Sportsman’s Club. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and received the “God and Country Award” in 1969 and was inducted into the “Order of the Arrow”. Donnie loved to farm and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also an accomplished woodworker having completed many pieces. He took all three granddaughters hunting, fishing and taught them how to sport shoot. He built the press box for Wintersville High School Baseball and started the Fall Baseball Leagues in Wintersville. In addition to his father Donnie was preceded in death by his father-in-law Andrew Shimko. He is survived by his mother of Wintersville, OH; his wife of 38 years Debra “Deb” Shimko Scott; daughter Maria Scott of Wintersville; son Michael (Robyn) Scott of Bloomingdale, OH; brother Rick (Julie) Scott of Merritt Island, FL; sister Barbara (Robert) Steitz of Richmond, OH; mother-in-law Florence Shimko-Styer of Wintersville, OH; granddaughters Haylie, Reese and McKenna Scott; much extended family and will be sadly missed by dear friends Sam Clark and Lou Vandeborne. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m., where funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 10a.m. with Rev. Bill Westling officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates. Mingo Sportsman’s Club service Wednesday 7p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Indian Creek Athletic Fund, 200 Park Drive, Wintersville, OH 43953.
