Donald E. Rea, Sr. 77, of Steubenville passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Valley Hospice North. He was born in Brilliant, OH on May 25, 1939 a son of the late Harold E. and Gertrude Wilson Rea. Don was a member of Finley United Methodist Church, Lions Club in Brilliant, OH, Steubenville Masonic Lodge #45 F&AM, American Legion Post 33 and Prime Time Senior Citizens Center. He retired from Western-Southern Life Insurance Company after 30 years in sales. He worked at the former Jefferson Community College and Trinity Health System as a security officer. Don served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962 and graduated from Brilliant High School class of 1957. Don loved his family, cars and traveling. He is survived by his wife Joanne (Chapman) Gillespie Rea, they were married February 28, 1998; sons Donald E. Rea, Jr. of Spotsylvania, VA, Brian C. Rea of Hurricane, WV, James D. (Heidi) Rea of Lacey, WA and Gregory P. (Teresa) Rea of Mingo Junction, OH; step-sons Mark (Julie) and David Gillespie, both of Centerville, OH; brother Robert N. (Carolyn) Rea of Smithfield, OH; sister Patricia A. (Daniel) Munis of Wintersville, OH; mother of his children Carol Kensicki of Yorkville, OH; grandchildren Kyle (Tiffany), Bryan, Zakery, Tyler, Marissa, Amber and Austin Rea and Alicia, Samuel, Noah, Kimmie, Lillie and Elizabeth Gillespie. Friends may call at Shorac Funeral Home (formerly McClaves) 611 N. 4th Street, Steubenville, OH Thursday from 4-7p.m. Friends may also call on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 11:30a.m. until time of services at 12:30p.m. at Finley United Methodist Church, Steubenville, OH with Rev. Jerry Ernst officiating. Burial at New Alexandria Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Trinity Health System, Acuity Specialty Hospital and Valley Hospice for their care of Don and love and concern for our family.
